Tantalus Systems is a Canadian smart grid company I’ve been meaning to write about for some time. The company caught my eye recently with a series of industry awards, especially the one from PowerGrid International magazine, which was presented at Distributech, the industry’s leading T&D event. This award was for Tantalus’ smart meter deployment with Pulaski Electric System, a Tennessee-based municipal utility.

Yesterday, the winners of our first Product of the Year, or “POTY,” awards were announced on TMCnet. These awards are a long-standing element of TMC’s (News – Alert) flagship ITEXPO event, and are one of the ways we are differentiating the Smart Grid Summit from other industry events. As outlined in the press release, the winners were ADTRAN, Control4, EnerNOC, Gemalto, nlyte Software, SmartSynch, Synapse Wireless, Telvent, Trilliant (News – Alert) and Tropos Networks.

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) today announced the winners of the first GridVision Awards program celebrating outstanding contributions within the electronic power industry.
“The GridVision awards honor the services that represent significant advances towards the goals of a smarter, more efficient and more reliable electric power grid,” commented IEC President John R. Janowiak. “The initial group of GridVision Award honorees have been chosen by a panel of industry experts as exemplifying the most innovative and effective applications of these technologies.”
