The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) will soon go Kolkata way where a smart grid will take over the electricity distribution, shut offs and management. Bescom will be the first Escom to bring down the transmission losses from 22% to single digit.

“If everything goes according to plans, Bangalore city and the Bescom area will switch over to the smart grid in a year. We have studied the models of smart grid in Kolkata and Delhi but found the Kolkata model more proficient and our engineers are working on that model.
