I had breakfast recently with Thierry Godart, president of Siemens smart grid division in the U.S. Right from the start, he declared that 2012 would be all about integration.

And he is throwing down the gauntlet. “We want to be the leading smart grid integrator,” he told me. More specifically, Godart has big plans for MDM integration, substation integration and control room (enterprise) integration. In Godart’s view, those are the three platforms that together create an end-to-end smart grid.
