ABB and Sensus are pairing their respective technologies to create new offerings for utilities working to develop smart grids, according to an agreement the companies announced Tuesday.

Swiss company ABB (NYSE: ABB), which has its North American headquarters in Cary, makes components for electric utilities. Raleigh-based Sensus makes metering systems, including smart meters that offer enhanced data and communication capabilities. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
