Initially slow to jump on the smart grid bandwagon, German utility giant Siemens is playing smart grid catch up. After watching other energy powerhouses like General Electric and ABB in Switzerland commit to smart energy, Siemens has announced several new projects and partnerships, intent to double its current smart grid growth rate. The company’s five year projection is to increase its global smart grid revenue to over $8 billion from its current $1.4 billion take.
