Consumers have been unfairly blaming their higher electric bills on newly installed smart meters, concludes a Texas utility investigation. Responding to calls and emails from dismayed customers, Oncor sought to alleviate concerns. In some cases, the old meter was misread prior to being replaced with a smart meter. In other cases, it’s they more energy is really being used.
