A total of 32 GW of wind power is scheduled to be delivered in the UK by 2020, a capacity equal to a quarter of the UK’s electricity needs by 2020.
Plans call for 6,400 wind turbines to be built off the British coast. On 8 January 2010, the Crown Estate announced the successful bidders for offshore wind energy generation in nine Round 3 zones within UK waters.
