This month, against the backdrop of the Copenhagen UN climate change conference, the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change announced its plans to fit every home in Britain with a smart meter by 2020. Ministers claim the new meters will help people cut their energy bills and their carbon footprint.

The event is scheduled for October 4-6, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Smart Grid Summit is the first event of its kind to address the intersection of two core economic building blocks - utilities and communications. Conference sessions and keynote addresses equip companies building and using the Smart Grid to overcome the same transformational issues that telecom experienced with the advent of IP communications technologies. Smart Grid Summit is once again collocated with TMC's ITEXPO conference and trade show. ITEXPO is the world's largest and best-attended event focused on IP communications technology.
