Allegheny Energy won’t get Smart Grid funds – The Frederick News-Post Online

Allegheny Energy will not directly receive federal Smart Grid funds, according to the utility company’s spokesman.

The company’s Watt Watchers EmPower Maryland programs are not upgrades to the infrastructure, so they won’t get the Smart Grid funds, said Todd Meyers, manager of external communications.

The event is scheduled for October 4-6, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Smart Grid Summit is the first event of its kind to address the intersection of two core economic building blocks - utilities and communications.
