NV Energy will receive a $138 million dollar grant, as part of the $16 billion dollar American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), to implement smart grid technologies in Nevada, according to Harry Reid, D., Nev. The project is part of an $3.9 billion build out of the smart energy grid announced today by President Obama.
The intent of the grid program is to modernize the energy grid, allowing for greater integration of renewable energy sources while increasing the reliability, efficiency and security of the nation’s transmission and distribution system.
