Energy holding company NV Energy (NYSE:NVE) has applied to the US Department of Energy (DOE) for a USD138m grant in stimulus funding through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, the company disclosed on Tuesday.

The funding would support the company’s Advanced Service Delivery (ASD) Project, which will help build a modern Smart Grid infrastructure for the state of Nevada, NV Energy said. ASD links NV Energy’s customers to the grid in their homes, their workplaces and their vehicles.

The project will be implemented from 2010-2012 if the grant is awarded. It will link 1.45m electric and gas meters across 54,600 square miles of service territory.
